BBFC and Target Audience

The BBFC and the Thriller Genre

The BBFC is the British Board of Film Classification. It controls all censorship on films throughout the UK, and has been doing this since 1912.
  • U - Universal - All ages admitted
  • PG - Parental Guidance - All ages admitted, some scenes not ideal though
  • 12A - Should be 12 years of age, with an adult
  • 12 - Only suitable for people 12 years +
  • 15 - Only suitable for people 15 years +
  • 18 - Only suitable for adults (18)
  • R18 - Restricted 18 - Can only be shown at licensed adult cinemas

  • Drugs
  • Imitable Behaviour
  • Language
  • Nudity
  • Sex
  • Threat
  • Violence
